Rand Paul

Rand Paul is the junior U.S. Senator from Kentucky, representing the Republican Party since 2011. Born in Pittsburgh and raised in Texas, he is the son of former U.S. Representative Ron Paul. He attended Baylor University and later earned his medical degree from the Duke University School of Medicine in 1988. Before his political career, he was a practicing ophthalmologist in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and founded the Southern Kentucky Lions Eye Clinic to provide eye care for low-income residents. Paul was first elected to the U.S. Senate in 2010, supported by the Tea Party movement. Throughout his career, he has been a prominent advocate for limited government, fiscal conservatism, and civil liberties. He has served on various committees, including the Foreign Relations Committee and the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. In addition to his Senate work, he sought the Republican nomination for President in 2016 and has remained a distinct voice in his party on matters of foreign non-interventionism and constitutional law.
