Todd Young

Todd Christopher Young is a Republican politician and attorney serving as the senior United States Senator from Indiana since 2017. Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1972, he was raised in Indiana and graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 1995. Following his graduation, Young served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Marine Corps, achieving the rank of captain before his honorable discharge in 2000. He continued his education by earning an MBA from the University of Chicago, an MA from the University of London, and a JD from Indiana University. Before his election to the Senate, Young represented Indiana's 9th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2011 to 2017. In the Senate, he has emerged as a key figure in national security and economic policy, notably co-authoring the CHIPS and Science Act to bolster domestic semiconductor manufacturing. He has also served as the chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee from 2019 to 2021 and currently sits on committees including Finance, Foreign Relations, and Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Senator Young advocates for a conservative economic agenda focused on tax reduction, deregulation, and expanding international trade opportunities through agreements like the USMCA. In foreign policy, he emphasizes strategic competition with China, particularly in technology and manufacturing, and maintains strong support for the NATO alliance.
