Maria Cantwell

Maria Cantwell is a United States Senator from Washington and a member of the Democratic Party. She was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1992 and subsequently won election to the U.S. Senate in 2000. Raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, she graduated from Miami University with a degree in public administration. Her early career included service in the Washington State House of Representatives starting in 1987. Between her time in the House and Senate, she worked as an executive in the private sector for RealNetworks, a technology company.
