Charles Fleischmann

Born in Manhattan, New York, Charles Joseph Fleischmann was raised in Illinois and later moved to Tennessee to attend the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor in 1986. He previously graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign with a bachelor's degree in political science and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. After completing his education, he and his wife, Brenda, co-founded the law firm Fleischmann and Fleischmann in Chattanooga, which they operated for over twenty years. He also served as the president of the Chattanooga Bar Association in 1996. Fleischmann is a member of the Republican Party and was first elected to represent Tennessee's 3rd congressional district in 2010, taking office in January 2011. In the House of Representatives, he is a senior member of the Committee on Appropriations and serves as the Chairman of the Energy and Water Development Subcommittee. His legislative work often highlights support for critical infrastructure and research institutions within East Tennessee, including the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Fleischmann's policy positions are rooted in fiscal conservatism and limited government intervention. He advocates for a balanced budget amendment to control federal spending and supports tax reductions, such as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, which he views as essential for small business prosperity. Regarding immigration, he prioritizes border security through the construction of a southern border wall and opposes amnesty for undocumented immigrants. As a proponent of energy independence, he strongly supports the expansion of nuclear energy and domestic natural resource development. Additionally, he maintains a pro-life stance, opposes the Affordable Care Act, and supports the protection of Second Amendment rights.
