Paul Gosar

Paul Anthony Gosar is the Republican U.S. Representative for Arizona's 9th congressional district. Born on November 27, 1958, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, he graduated from Creighton University with a Bachelor of Science in 1981 and a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1985. Prior to entering public service, Gosar operated a dental practice in Flagstaff, Arizona, for over two decades. During this time, he was a leader in his professional community, serving as president of the Arizona Dental Association and earning the organization's Dentist of the Year award in 2001. Gosar's political career began with his election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2010. Since taking office in 2011, he has represented three different districts in Arizona due to redistricting. He has held leadership positions such as Chairman of the Congressional Western Caucus and currently serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the Committee on Oversight and Accountability. His notable legislative efforts include advocating for the Resolution Copper land exchange and the development of the Interstate 11 corridor. Throughout his tenure, Gosar has consistently championed conservative and populist causes. He has been recognized for his voting record on fiscal and social issues and has been a member of the House Freedom Caucus. In 2021, he faced a formal censure from the House of Representatives following a controversial social media post but was later restored to his committee roles in 2023. He continues to serve as a senior member within the Arizona Republican delegation, focusing on policies that promote limited government and constitutional adherence.

He advocates for the full repeal of the Affordable Care Act and supports deregulation across various industries to encourage job growth.
