William Keating

William Richard "Bill" Keating is a Democratic politician who has served as the U.S. Representative for Massachusetts' 9th congressional district since 2013, after previously representing the 10th district upon his first election to Congress on November 2, 2010. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts, Keating earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Business Administration from Boston College and a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School. Before entering federal office, he established a lengthy career in public service at the state level, serving in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1977 to 1984 and the Massachusetts State Senate from 1985 to 1998. Following his legislative tenure, Keating served as the District Attorney for Norfolk County from 1999 until 2010, where he focused on community-based crime prevention, domestic violence reduction, and senior abuse prevention. In the U.S. House, he has become a senior member of the Foreign Affairs and Armed Services Committees.
