Rick Larsen

Richard Ray Larsen is the U.S. Representative for Washington's 2nd Congressional District, a seat he has held since 2001. A member of the Democratic Party, Larsen was born and raised in Arlington, Washington. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Pacific Lutheran University and his Master of Public Affairs from the University of Minnesota. Prior to his congressional service, he worked as an economic development official for the Port of Everett and as the Director of Public Affairs for the Washington State Dental Association. He also served on the Snohomish County Council from 1998 to 2000. In the House of Representatives, Larsen is a senior member and currently the Ranking Member of the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. His work has focused heavily on infrastructure modernization, including the implementation of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and supporting the aerospace industry which is central to his district's economy. Additionally, he is a member of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and has served on the House Armed Services Committee, where he has advocated for military families and veterans' access to healthcare.

Larsen supports universal healthcare and has voted for legislation to lower prescription drug costs, including capping insulin prices for seniors. He advocates for a $15 federal minimum wage and views robust infrastructure investment as a primary driver of economic growth and job creation. On immigration, he supports a path to citizenship for 'Dreamers' and calls for increased oversight and accountability of federal immigration enforcement agencies. His environmental platform includes support for the Inflation Reduction Act, protecting public lands, and restoring critical salmon habitats in the Pacific Northwest. In foreign policy, he emphasizes U.S. leadership in global security, supports aid to Ukraine, and co-chairs the bipartisan U.S.-China Working Group.
