David Schweikert

David Schweikert is a Republican U.S. Representative representing Arizona's 1st Congressional District, having been first elected to Congress in 2010. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Scottsdale, Arizona, he earned a Bachelor of Science in finance and real estate from Arizona State University in 1988 and later obtained an MBA from the same institution in 2005. Prior to his political career, Schweikert was a real estate developer and businessman in the Phoenix area. Schweikert's public service began in the Arizona House of Representatives, where he served from 1991 to 1994 and rose to the position of Majority Whip. He later served as the Chairman of the Arizona State Board of Equalization from 1995 to 2004 and as the Maricopa County Treasurer from 2004 to 2007. In these roles, he focused on tax administration and fiscal management. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Schweikert has served on the Financial Services Committee and currently sits on the Ways and Means Committee, where he chairs the Oversight Subcommittee. He is known as a fiscal conservative and advocate for reducing federal spending. Key accomplishments include his legislative work on the JOBS Act and his advocacy for the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
