Brad Sherman

Brad Sherman is a Democratic politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 32nd congressional district. First elected in 1996, he assumed office in 1997 and has served over twelve terms in the House, representing parts of the San Fernando Valley. Sherman attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science, followed by a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. Prior to entering federal politics, he worked as a certified public accountant and tax attorney, and held a teaching position at Harvard Law School's International Tax Program. Sherman's early political career included serving on the California State Board of Equalization from 1991 to 1997, where he served as chairman and led efforts to reform various state taxes. In the House of Representatives, he holds senior positions on the Foreign Affairs and Financial Services committees. His legislative accomplishments include authoring the Sherman Amendment to protect environmental lands and advocating for the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
