Steve Womack

Stephen Allen Womack is a Republican U.S. Representative for Arkansas's 3rd congressional district, a position he has held since January 2011. A native of Russellville, Arkansas, Womack graduated from Arkansas Tech University in 1979. His professional background includes serving as a radio station manager for KURM Radio and working as a financial consultant for Merrill Lynch. Womack also served in the Arkansas Army National Guard for 30 years, retiring with the rank of colonel in 2009. His military service included a deployment to Sinai, Egypt, as part of the Multinational Force and Observers mission. Before his election to Congress, Womack served on the Rogers City Council and was the Mayor of Rogers from 1999 to 2011. In the U.S. House of Representatives, he has held significant leadership roles, including Chairman of the House Budget Committee during the 115th Congress. He is currently a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee. Womack is notably recognized for his perfect voting record, having never missed a floor vote since beginning his tenure in Congress, which stands as the longest consecutive voting streak of any current member of the House.

Representative Womack maintains a conservative legislative record with a focus on fiscal responsibility and national security. On the economy and budget, he advocates for balanced budgets and reduced federal spending, having chaired the House Budget Committee. His energy policy follows an "all-of-the-above" approach, supporting the development of oil, gas, coal, nuclear, and renewable energy sources while opposing regulations he describes as government overreach by the EPA. In healthcare, Womack supports the repeal of the Affordable Care Act and has voted to reduce spending on Medicare and Medicaid, including the implementation of work requirements for welfare programs. Womack's foreign policy positions emphasize American global leadership and support for key allies. He has consistently voted for security assistance to Israel, Ukraine, and Taiwan, viewing these partnerships as essential to countering the influence of adversaries like Iran, Russia, and China. Regarding immigration, he is a staunch proponent of increased border security, providing full funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and Customs and Border Protection (CBP), and enforcing "Remain in Mexico" policies. He also voted in favor of the impeachment of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, citing failures in immigration law enforcement.
