Ann Wagner

Ann Wagner is the U.S. Representative for Missouri's 2nd Congressional District, a position she has held since 2013. A member of the Republican Party, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in logistics from the University of Missouri in 1984. Before entering public office, Wagner worked in the private sector, holding management positions at Hallmark Cards and Ralston Purina. Her political career began at the grassroots level as a local committeewoman before she rose to serve as the chair of the Missouri Republican Party from 1999 to 2005 and as the co-chair of the Republican National Committee from 2001 to 2005. From 2005 to 2009, Wagner served as the United States Ambassador to Luxembourg after being appointed by President George W. Bush. In Congress, she has held leadership roles on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She is recognized for her legislative focus on combating human trafficking and online sex exploitation, having authored the Allow States and Victims to Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act (FOSTA) and the Put Trafficking Victims First Act. Wagner was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012, succeeding Todd Akin.

Ann Wagner maintains a conservative platform centered on fiscal discipline, regulatory reform, and national security. She supports tax reductions to stimulate economic growth, such as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, and advocates for reducing federal spending and balancing the budget. On healthcare, she has consistently voted to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, favoring patient-centered, market-based solutions that protect individuals with pre-existing conditions. Wagner is a proponent of domestic energy production, including the development of oil and gas resources to achieve energy independence. In social policy, Wagner is strongly pro-life and has supported legislation to restrict federal funding for abortion and protect infant survivors of abortion procedures. Regarding immigration, she advocates for increased border security, including finishing the border wall, and the strict enforcement of existing immigration laws. Her foreign policy positions emphasize a robust military and strong ties with allies, particularly Israel. She has been active in promoting human rights abroad and has served as a co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
