David Joyce

David Patrick Joyce is a Republican politician and attorney who has represented Ohio's 14th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2013. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Joyce graduated from West Geauga High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in accounting from the University of Dayton in 1979 and a Juris Doctor from the same institution in 1982. Prior to his career in Congress, he served as a public defender in Cuyahoga and Geauga Counties and spent nearly 25 years as the Geauga County Prosecutor from 1988 to 2012. Since entering Congress, Joyce has focused on environmental protection, fiscal responsibility, and local community safety. He is a senior member of the House Committee on Appropriations and chairs the Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government. A prominent advocate for the Great Lakes, he has consistently secured funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) to address invasive species and pollution. He is also known for his work on the opioid crisis as the Vice Chair of the Addiction, Treatment and Recovery Caucus and for co-founding the Bipartisan Task Force to End Sexual Violence.
