Roger Williams

Roger Williams is a Republican politician representing Texas's 25th Congressional District, a seat he has held since being first elected in 2012. Raised in Fort Worth, Texas, he attended Texas Christian University (TCU), where he was a standout athlete on the baseball team and was later named to the school's All-Decade Team. After a brief career in professional baseball within the Atlanta Braves farm system, he transitioned into the private sector, taking over his family's automobile dealership in Weatherford, which he has owned and operated for over 50 years. Before his tenure in Congress, Williams was a significant figure in Texas state politics and fundraising. He served as the North Texas Finance Chairman for the Bush/Cheney 2000 presidential campaign and was appointed by Governor Rick Perry as the 105th Secretary of State of Texas in 2005. In that role, he served as the state's Chief Election Officer and the liaison for Texas Border and Mexican Affairs. In the U.S. House of Representatives, he has notably served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business and as a member of the Financial Services Committee. His legislative accomplishments include authoring the "Jumpstart America" tax reform package and passing legislation such as the Connecting Small Businesses with Career and Technical Education Graduates Act. He is also a prominent participant in the Congressional Baseball Game, serving as the manager and coach for the Republican team.
