Donald Norcross

Donald Norcross is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New Jersey’s 1st Congressional District since 2014. Raised in Pennsauken, New Jersey, Norcross attended Camden County College and began his career as an electrician, eventually becoming a union leader. He served as the president of the Southern New Jersey AFL-CIO for sixteen years before entering public office, first in the New Jersey General Assembly and later in the New Jersey Senate. Norcross was elected to Congress in a 2014 special election to fill the seat vacated by Rob Andrews. In Congress, Norcross serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Education and the Workforce Committee. He is a co-founder of the Labor Caucus and has focused much of his legislative work on issues related to workforce development, union rights, and national security. Throughout his tenure, he has advocated for expanding apprenticeship programs and strengthening the American manufacturing sector. He also plays a significant role in regional infrastructure projects and veterans' affairs within his district.

Donald Norcross maintains a platform focused on labor rights, healthcare access, and economic security. He strongly supports raising the federal minimum wage and protecting collective bargaining rights. In healthcare, he advocates for the Affordable Care Act and measures to reduce the cost of prescription drugs. On the environment, Norcross acknowledges climate change as a critical issue and supports investments in clean energy technology while emphasizing the creation of green-energy jobs. Regarding immigration, he supports comprehensive reform that includes a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants and protections for DACA recipients. His foreign policy stances often emphasize a strong national defense and support for key allies like Israel.
