Warren Davidson

Warren Davidson is a Republican politician and former military officer serving as the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 8th congressional district. After graduating from high school in 1988, Davidson enlisted in the U.S. Army as an infantryman and was stationed in Germany during the fall of the Berlin Wall. He later attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating in 1995 with a degree in American history and a minor in mechanical engineering. During his military career, he served as an officer in the 75th Ranger Regiment, the 101st Airborne Division, and The Old Guard before returning to civilian life in 2000. Upon returning to Ohio, Davidson transitioned into the private sector, managing his family's manufacturing business and eventually owning and operating multiple manufacturing companies. He earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame in 2005. Davidson entered the political arena in 2016 when he won a special election to fill the seat vacated by former Speaker of the House John Boehner. In Congress, he serves on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he has become a leading member of the House Freedom Caucus.

Representative Davidson's policy positions are rooted in fiscal conservatism, limited government, and individual privacy. He is a staunch advocate for reducing the national debt and has consistently voted for deregulation and tax cuts, including the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017. A significant portion of his legislative focus involves the intersection of technology and finance; he is a proponent of cryptocurrency and blockchain innovation, having introduced the "Keep Your Coins Act" to protect self-hosted digital wallets, while also opposing the creation of a central bank digital currency (CBDC). On matters of privacy, he has been a vocal defender of Fourth Amendment rights, particularly regarding government surveillance and the purchase of digital data by federal agencies. Regarding national security, Davidson promotes a restrained foreign policy, arguing for the restoration of congressional war powers and expressing skepticism toward indefinite foreign aid and military interventions. He is a strong supporter of border security and the construction of a physical barrier on the U.S. southern border. His social policy positions are characterized by a pro-life stance and strong support for Second Amendment rights, frequently opposing measures he views as infringements on lawful firearm ownership. Additionally, he has advocated for healthcare reform focused on market-based competition and the repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
