J. Correa

Lou Correa is a Democratic politician serving as the U.S. Representative for California's 46th congressional district, a position he has held since 2017. Born in East Los Angeles and raised in Anaheim, he attended local public schools before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from California State University, Fullerton. He later received both a Juris Doctor and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Before entering public office, Correa worked as an investment banker, a real estate broker, and a college lecturer. His political career began in the California State Assembly, where he served from 1998 to 2004. He subsequently served on the Orange County Board of Supervisors from 2004 to 2006 and in the California State Senate from 2006 to 2014. Throughout his tenure in the California Legislature and the U.S. House of Representatives, Correa has been recognized for his work on veterans' affairs, public safety, and economic development. He was first elected to Congress in 2016, succeeding Loretta Sanchez.

Representative Correa's policy positions emphasize social safety nets, immigration reform, and veterans' services. He is a supporter of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and advocates for protecting Medicaid and Medicare from funding cuts. On immigration, he supports the DREAM Act and comprehensive reform, frequently advocating for the legal rights of immigrants and refugees. Correa also focuses on veterans' issues, including expanding access to healthcare and researching alternative medical treatments for PTSD.
