Neal Dunn

Neal Patrick Dunn is a Republican politician and surgeon serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 2nd Congressional District. First elected in 2016 and assuming office in January 2017, Dunn represents an expansive district in the Florida Panhandle. Raised in an Army family, he earned his Bachelor of Science from Washington and Lee University and his Doctor of Medicine from George Washington University. He completed his urological residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and served for over a decade as a surgeon in the U.S. Army, reaching the rank of major. After his military service, Dunn practiced medicine in Panama City for 25 years and was the founding president of the Advanced Urology Institute. He also served as the founding chairman of Summit Bank and was a member of the Board of Directors for Enterprise Florida and Space Florida. In the House of Representatives, he has held leadership roles including Vice Chair of the Committee on Energy and Commerce. In January 2026, he announced his intention to retire from Congress at the end of his term.

Representative Dunn's policy positions align with traditional conservative principles. He advocates for the full repeal of the Affordable Care Act, favoring a transition to market-oriented healthcare systems. He is a proponent of fiscal conservatism, supporting tax reductions such as the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and the elimination of various federal regulations to stimulate economic growth. On immigration, Dunn emphasizes border security and the completion of a border wall, while also participating in bipartisan efforts to reform legal status pathways alongside strict enforcement. He is a steadfast supporter of the Second Amendment, opposing bans on semi-automatic firearms. His legislative focus also includes strengthening national defense, supporting the agricultural sector in North Florida, and addressing strategic competition with the Chinese Communist Party through his work on the Select Committee.
