Brian Fitzpatrick

Brian Kevin Fitzpatrick is a Republican U.S. Representative serving Pennsylvania's 1st congressional district. First elected to Congress in 2016, he initially represented the state's 8th district before redistricting. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Levittown, Fitzpatrick graduated from Bishop Egan High School and earned a Bachelor of Science from La Salle University. He later completed a joint Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration program at Pennsylvania State University. He is also a licensed certified public accountant and a certified emergency medical technician. Prior to his legislative career, Fitzpatrick served for 14 years as an FBI Supervisory Special Agent and a Special Assistant U.S. Attorney. During his tenure with the FBI, he led the agency’s Campaign Finance and Election Crimes Enforcement program and served as a national supervisor for the Public Corruption Unit. His service included being embedded with U.S. Special Forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom and conducting international counterterrorism missions. He received the FBI Director’s Award and was named Investigator of the Year for his work as the lead agent in a major political corruption investigation in New York City.

Fitzpatrick is widely recognized as a moderate Republican and frequently ranks as one of the most bipartisan members of the House. On healthcare, he has advocated for mental health and substance abuse treatment, and he was one of the few Republicans to vote against the 2017 repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Regarding the economy, he supports fiscal reform measures such as the 'No Budget, No Pay' Act and a balanced-budget amendment to the Constitution. His immigration stance involves balancing enhanced border security with legal pathways for undocumented residents, notably co-sponsoring the DIGNIDAD Act. Fitzpatrick has also broken with his party on gun control, voting in favor of universal background checks and a ban on assault weapons. Furthermore, he is a prominent advocate for animal welfare and supports continued military and humanitarian aid for allies like Ukraine and Israel.
