Lloyd Smucker

Lloyd Smucker is the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 11th congressional district, a member of the Republican Party first elected to the House in 2016. Born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Smucker was raised in an Old Order Amish family until the age of five. He graduated from Lancaster Mennonite High School in 1981 and attended Lebanon Valley College and Franklin & Marshall College. Prior to his political career, he was the president and owner of the Smucker Company, a family-owned commercial construction business, for 25 years. Smucker served as a member of the West Lampeter Township Planning Commission and as a township supervisor before being elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate, where he served from 2009 to 2016. During his time in the state legislature, he chaired the Senate Education Committee and focused on education accountability. In Congress, he serves on the Ways and Means and Budget committees, where he promotes policies related to fiscal responsibility, tax reform, and workforce development.

Smucker advocates for fiscal restraint and pro-growth economic policies, including tax cuts and regulatory relief for small businesses. He is a strong supporter of increased border security and has voted in favor of funding for a border wall and enhanced enforcement at the U.S. southern border. In healthcare, he favors market-driven competition to lower costs and has supported legislation for cancer research and early detection. On environmental issues, he supports domestic energy production while also backing specific conservation measures such as microplastics reduction and wetlands protection. His foreign policy positions generally prioritize national security and support for American allies.
