Ron Estes

Ron Estes is a Republican U.S. Representative serving Kansas's 4th congressional district. A fifth-generation Kansan, he was first elected to Congress in a special election on April 11, 2017, to fill the vacancy left by Mike Pompeo. Estes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and a Master of Business Administration, both from Tennessee Technological University. Before entering public office, he spent several decades in the private sector working in consulting and management roles for industries such as aerospace, energy, and manufacturing, including positions at Procter & Gamble and Koch Industries. His political career began at the local level when he was elected Sedgwick County Treasurer in 2004, a role he held until 2010. He then served as the Kansas State Treasurer from 2011 to 2017, where he managed state funds and oversaw pension reforms. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Estes serves on the Committee on Ways and Means, the Committee on the Budget, and the Committee on Education and the Workforce. He has been a consistent advocate for the aviation and agricultural sectors, which are vital to his district's economy. Throughout his tenure, Estes has focused on fiscal policy, including the implementation of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 and the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). He has also worked on legislation related to veteran services, national security, and regulatory reform. His legislative efforts often emphasize streamlining government operations and reducing federal spending to address the national debt.

Ron Estes maintains a conservative voting record and publicly stated positions focused on fiscal restraint and social conservatism. On the economy, he advocates for lower taxes, deregulation, and free trade agreements like the USMCA to support Kansas manufacturing and farming.
