Troy Balderson

William Troy Balderson is a Republican politician and businessman currently representing Ohio's 12th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Born and raised in Zanesville, Ohio, he attended Zanesville High School and later studied business administration at Muskingum University and The Ohio State University. Before entering public service, Balderson spent decades in the private sector, working on his family's farm and serving as the Vice President and General Manager of his family's automotive dealership, Balderson Motor Sales. Balderson's career in state government began with his election to the Ohio House of Representatives in 2008, followed by an appointment to the Ohio Senate in 2011. During his tenure in the Ohio Senate, he chaired the Energy and Natural Resources Committee and served on the Finance Committee. He was first elected to Congress in a high-profile 2018 special election to fill the seat vacated by Pat Tiberi, narrowly winning the contest before securing a full term in the general election later that year. In the U.S. House, Balderson serves on the Committee on Energy and Commerce, as well as the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. His legislative work often focuses on workforce development, energy policy, and rural infrastructure, including expanding broadband access.
