Michael Guest

Michael Patrick Guest is a Republican politician and attorney who has represented Mississippi's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since 2019. Born in Woodbury, New Jersey, and raised in Brandon, Mississippi, he earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Mississippi State University in 1992 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi School of Law in 1995. Before entering federal office, Guest spent over two decades as a prosecutor, serving as an Assistant District Attorney and later as the District Attorney for Madison and Rankin Counties from 2008 to 2019. In the House, Guest has assumed several leadership positions, including serving as the Chairman of the House Ethics Committee and Vice Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security. He also serves on the House Appropriations Committee. During the 116th Congress, he was the first Republican freshman to have a bill—the Terrorist and Foreign Fighter Travel Exercise Act of 2019—signed into law. In 2024, he was appointed as one of the House impeachment managers for the proceedings against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

Michael Guest's policy platform is rooted in conservative principles, focusing on limited government, free-market economics, and national security. He advocates for lower taxes, fiscal responsibility, and the reduction of federal regulations to support economic growth.
