Susie Lee

Susie Lee, a member of the Democratic Party, has represented Nevada's 3rd congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives since January 2019. Born Suzanne Marie Kelley in Canton, Ohio, she was raised in a working-class family and earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from Carnegie Mellon University. After moving to Las Vegas in 1993, she dedicated much of her career to the nonprofit sector, serving as the founding director of After-School All-Stars and the president of Communities in Schools of Nevada, where she focused on improving graduation rates and providing support services to at-risk students. Since her first election in 2018, Lee has served on the House Appropriations Committee and has been an active member of the New Democrat Coalition and the Problem Solvers Caucus. She is frequently recognized for her bipartisan record, having been ranked among the most bipartisan members of the House. Her legislative priorities often focus on regional issues, including water conservation and veterans' healthcare, and she has contributed to major federal legislation such as the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and the Inflation Reduction Act.

Susie Lee advocates for policy solutions centered on healthcare accessibility, economic growth, and environmental sustainability. She supports protecting and expanding the Affordable Care Act and has championed measures to lower the cost of prescription drugs and insulin. Her economic platform emphasizes infrastructure investment, workforce development, and support for middle-class families and union labor. In regard to the environment, Lee focuses on climate change mitigation through renewable energy expansion and the protection of Nevada’s water supply and public lands. On immigration, she supports comprehensive reform that combines enhanced border security with a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers and efficient processing of asylum claims.
