Chrissy Houlahan

Christina "Chrissy" Houlahan is a member of the Democratic Party and has served as the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 6th Congressional District since January 2019. First elected in the 2018 midterm elections, she is an Air Force veteran, engineer, entrepreneur, and former educator. Houlahan earned a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Stanford University on an ROTC scholarship and later obtained a Master of Science in technology and policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Her professional background includes serving as a captain in the U.S. Air Force, working as a senior executive for the apparel company AND1, and serving as the Chief Operating Officer of B Lab, a non-profit that certifies B Corporations. In Congress, Houlahan serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. She is recognized for her bipartisan efforts, co-founding several caucuses including the Women in STEM Caucus and the Servicewomen and Women Veterans Congressional Caucus. She was the first woman ever elected to represent her district. Her legislative work often focuses on national security, small business, and veterans' affairs, and she has been honored with multiple awards for transparency and constituent service from the Congressional Management Foundation.

Houlahan advocates for a healthcare system that treats care as a right, supporting the strengthening of the Affordable Care Act and the introduction of a public option to increase competition and lower costs. She is a proponent of environmental action, co-chairing the Bipartisan Climate Solutions Caucus and promoting policies that align economic growth with emissions reductions. On economic matters, she supports paid family and medical leave and has introduced legislation to expand these benefits. Her foreign policy positions emphasize multilateralism and strong alliances, including support for NATO and continued military aid to Ukraine. She also supports a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and views China as a strategic competitor in technology and trade. Additionally, she is a vocal supporter of reproductive freedom, including the codification of Roe v. Wade, and common-sense gun safety measures.
