Guy Reschenthaler

Guy Lorin Reschenthaler is the U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 14th congressional district, serving since 2019. Born on April 17, 1983, in Pittsburgh, he was raised in the South Hills area by parents who were public school teachers. Reschenthaler attended Penn State Behrend, where he earned a bachelor's degree in political science in three years, and subsequently graduated from Duquesne University School of Law in 2007. Following law school, he joined the U.S. Navy Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps and volunteered for duty in Iraq. During his deployment to Baghdad, he prosecuted nearly 100 individuals and successfully defended a Navy SEAL who had been accused of misconduct. After his military service, Reschenthaler returned to Pennsylvania to practice law before being elected as a magisterial district judge in 2013. He later served in the Pennsylvania State Senate from 2015 to 2019, representing the 37th district. In 2018, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Republican. Throughout his tenure in Congress, he has risen to leadership roles, including serving as the Republican Chief Deputy Whip. His legislative career has focused on issues such as national security, fiscal conservatism, and supporting the interests of veterans and law enforcement officers.

Reschenthaler advocates for a conservative policy agenda with a focus on economic growth, border security, and energy independence. On healthcare, he supports market-based solutions and the protection of coverage for pre-existing conditions but opposes government-mandated programs like the Affordable Care Act. In economic matters, he supports permanent tax cuts, deregulation, and the promotion of Pennsylvania’s coal and natural gas industries. He has consistently opposed large-scale federal spending packages, citing concerns over inflation and the national debt. His stance on immigration includes strong support for border wall construction and the elimination of sanctuary city policies. He has introduced legislation to penalize jurisdictions that refuse to cooperate with federal immigration authorities. Regarding foreign policy, Reschenthaler is a prominent critic of the Chinese Communist Party and has served on the China Task Force to address adversarial influence. He is also a staunch supporter of security assistance for Israel. Domestically, he maintains a pro-life position, having co-sponsored the Life at Conception Act, and is a firm defender of Second Amendment rights, generally opposing expanded firearm regulations and background checks.
