John Rose

John Williams Rose is a Republican politician and businessman serving as the U.S. Representative for Tennessee's 6th congressional district since 2019. Born and raised in Cookeville, Tennessee, he pursued an extensive education in agriculture and law, earning a Bachelor of Science from Tennessee Technological University, a Master of Science from Purdue University, and a Juris Doctor from Vanderbilt University. Rose is an eighth-generation farmer, maintaining a 230-year family farming legacy in DeKalb and Smith Counties while also establishing a career in the private sector as an IT entrepreneur. Before his election to Congress, Rose served as the Tennessee Commissioner of Agriculture from 2002 to 2003 and worked as the president of Boson Software, LLC. He has held numerous leadership roles in the Tennessee agricultural community, including serving as chairman of the Tennessee State Fair Association for over a decade. Rose was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2018, succeeding Diane Black. He currently sits on the House Financial Services and Agriculture Committees and has announced his intention to run for Governor of Tennessee in 2026.

John Rose maintains a conservative platform centered on fiscal responsibility, deregulation, and traditional values. He advocates for reducing government spending and the national debt, frequently calling for more business-like efficiency in federal operations. On immigration, he supports enhanced border security and a zero-tolerance policy toward illegal entry. He is a defender of the Second Amendment and bases his social policy on what he describes as faith and family-centric principles. As a member of the Agriculture Committee, he prioritizes the needs of rural communities and the removal of federal regulations he considers burdensome to farmers.
