Thomas Tiffany

Thomas P. Tiffany is a Republican politician representing Wisconsin's 7th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. He was first elected to Congress in a special election held in May 2020 to succeed Sean Duffy. Prior to his federal service, Tiffany served in the Wisconsin State Assembly from 2011 to 2013 and the Wisconsin State Senate from 2013 to 2020. He grew up on a dairy farm near Elmwood, Wisconsin, and earned a Bachelor of Science in agricultural economics from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls in 1980. Before entering full-time politics, Tiffany had a diverse career in the private sector, managing petroleum distribution for a farm cooperative and owning an excursion business called Wilderness Cruises for twenty years. He also served as a dam tender for the Willow Flowage for nearly three decades. In the Wisconsin State Legislature, he was a prominent advocate for labor reforms and chaired the Senate Committee on Sporting Heritage, Mining, and Forestry. In Congress, he is a member of the House Freedom Caucus and serves on the Judiciary and Natural Resources committees, focusing on land management and regulatory reform.

Tiffany's policy platform is rooted in fiscal conservatism and deregulation. He supports extending the 2017 tax cuts and reducing federal spending to address inflation. On environmental and energy issues, he advocates for increased domestic energy production and the delisting of the gray wolf from the Endangered Species Act to allow for state management of the population. His stance on immigration emphasizes border security, including the construction of a border wall and withholding federal funds from sanctuary cities. Tiffany is a proponent of market-based healthcare reforms and has consistently voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Additionally, he is a vocal defender of Second Amendment rights and has opposed federal legislation for stricter gun control measures while supporting the protection of lawful gun ownership.
