Katherine Cammack

Kathryn "Kat" Cammack is a Republican politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 3rd congressional district. First elected in 2020 and assuming office on January 3, 2021, she is one of the youngest Republican women ever elected to Congress. Cammack was raised on a small cattle ranch in Denver, Colorado, and her family's personal experience with financial hardship and the loss of their ranch to a federal housing program in 2011 motivated her entry into politics. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in international relations from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Master of Science in national defense and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College. Before her election to Congress, Cammack had a decade-long career in political and strategic management. She served as the campaign manager and later the deputy chief of staff for her predecessor, Representative Ted Yoho. In addition to her public service roles, she co-founded a non-profit organization focused on supporting first responders and ran a small boutique marketing and consulting firm. In Congress, she serves on several high-profile committees, including the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and the House Committee on Agriculture, focusing on issues such as national security, rural development, and government accountability.

Cammack's policy positions are rooted in fiscal conservatism and limited government. On the economy, she advocates for reducing federal spending, cutting the national debt, and eliminating burdensome regulations; she is a primary sponsor of the REINS Act, which would require congressional approval for major executive branch rules. Regarding healthcare, she has focused on reducing administrative bureaucracy, increasing price transparency, and addressing the opioid epidemic, while maintaining a pro-life stance that supports state-level determination of abortion laws. On immigration and border security, Cammack emphasizes strict enforcement and has introduced legislation like the JASON Act to limit migrant entries during crises and the Human Trafficking Awareness Training Act. She is a staunch supporter of Second Amendment rights and is a member of several pro-gun coalitions. Her energy policy balances a desire for U.S. oil and gas independence with local environmental protections, such as her co-sponsorship of the PROTECT Florida Act to prohibit offshore drilling near Florida's coast.
