Randy Feenstra

Randy Feenstra is a Republican politician and businessman serving as the U.S. Representative for Iowa's 4th congressional district. Born and raised in Hull, Iowa, Feenstra earned a bachelor’s degree from Dordt University in 1991, followed by a Master of Public Administration from Iowa State University. In 2022, he completed a PhD in business from Northcentral University, focusing his research on rural healthcare and maternal health outcomes. His professional background includes serving as the head of sales for the Foreign Candy Company, working as the Hull City Administrator for seven years, and teaching business and economics at Dordt University. Feenstra’s political career began as the Sioux County Treasurer (2006–2008) before he served three terms in the Iowa State Senate (2009–2021). During his time in the state legislature, he served as the Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and was a primary architect of Iowa’s 2018 income tax reform, which implemented the largest income tax cut in state history. In 2020, Feenstra successfully challenged incumbent Steve King in the Republican primary and won the general election for Iowa’s 4th District. He assumed office on January 3, 2021, and has since focused on agricultural policy, fiscal responsibility, and rural infrastructure as a member of the House Committees on Agriculture and Ways and Means.

Randy Feenstra identifies as a fiscal conservative and strong advocate for agricultural interests. He supports permanency for tax cuts and focuses on reducing federal spending to address inflation. On immigration, he advocates for increased border security, including the construction of a southern border wall, and opposes sanctuary city policies; however, he has expressed support for expanding legal worker visas like the H-1B to address labor shortages in the agricultural sector. Feenstra is a vocal supporter of the biofuels industry, particularly ethanol and biodiesel, and emphasizes the role of Iowa farmers in national energy independence. On healthcare, he emphasizes improving access in rural areas and lowering prescription drug costs. He maintains a pro-life stance, supporting restrictions on abortion, and is a defender of Second Amendment rights, having co-sponsored 'constitutional carry' legislation during his tenure in the Iowa Senate.
