August Pfluger

August Pfluger is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Texas's 11th Congressional District. He was first elected in 2020 and assumed office on January 3, 2021. Raised in San Angelo, Texas, Pfluger graduated from the United States Air Force Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and later earned master's degrees from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Air University, and Georgetown University. Pfluger served for 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a fighter pilot, flying the F-22 Raptor and other aircraft, and retired as a Colonel. His military career included combat deployments to Syria and Iraq and a tenure as a national security advisor on the National Security Council during the Trump administration. In Congress, he serves as Chairman of the Republican Study Committee and as Chairman of the House Homeland Security Subcommittee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence.

Pfluger is a vocal advocate for American energy independence, particularly supporting the oil and gas industry in the Permian Basin. He consistently supports legislation aimed at reducing regulatory oversight for energy production. On national security and immigration, he emphasizes robust border enforcement, completion of the border wall, and increased support for law enforcement. He maintains a fiscally conservative voting record, opposing large-scale federal spending programs like the Inflation Reduction Act and supporting tax reductions. Additionally, his positions on healthcare focus on reforming Medicaid to ensure benefits go only to eligible individuals and opposing federal funding for gender-affirming care for minors.
