Rich McCormick

Dr. Richard Dean McCormick is a physician, veteran, and Republican politician representing Georgia's 7th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives. Raised in Portland, Oregon, McCormick earned a Bachelor of Science from Oregon State University before embarking on a two-decade military career. He served as a helicopter pilot in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of Major, and later served as a Commander in the U.S. Navy. During his service, he deployed to combat zones in Africa, the Persian Gulf, and Afghanistan, where he headed the Emergency Medicine Department at a hospital in Kandahar. His academic background includes a Master of Business Administration from National University and a Medical Doctor degree from the Morehouse School of Medicine. McCormick's professional career outside the military has focused on emergency medicine, working as a physician at Northside Hospital Gwinnett. He first entered Congress in January 2023, initially representing Georgia's 6th District. Following redistricting, he was elected to represent the 7th District in the 2024 elections for the term beginning in 2025. In the House, he has held assignments on the Armed Services, Foreign Affairs, and Science, Space, and Technology Committees, where he has chaired the Subcommittee on Investigations and Oversight.
