Erin Houchin

Erin Houchin is a Republican member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Indiana's 9th Congressional District. She was first elected to Congress in November 2022 and assumed office on January 3, 2023. Before her election to federal office, Houchin served in the Indiana State Senate from 2014 to 2022, representing the 47th district. Her professional background includes owning a communications firm and working as a regional director for former U.S. Senator Dan Coats. Houchin earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Indiana University Bloomington and a Master of Professional Studies in political management from George Washington University. During her time in the Indiana Senate, she held leadership roles such as Assistant Majority Whip and served on committees focused on commerce, utilities, and fiscal policy. In the U.S. House, she has been appointed to the House Rules, Budget, and Energy & Commerce Committees and serves as the Secretary of the House Republican Conference.

Houchin identifies as a fiscal conservative, advocating for reduced government spending and the implementation of a federal Balanced Budget Amendment. Her immigration policy emphasizes border security, including support for finishing a border wall and increasing law enforcement resources at the U.S.-Mexico border. She is consistently pro-life, supporting measures to restrict abortion and provide resources for mothers. On foreign policy, she has stated strong support for Israel's security and has identified the Chinese Communist Party as a significant threat to U.S. interests.
