Eric Burlison

Eric Burlison is a Republican U.S. Representative representing Missouri's 7th Congressional District, first elected in 2022 and assuming office on January 3, 2023. A sixth-generation Missourian born in Springfield, Burlison attended Parkview High School before earning a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Master of Business Administration from Missouri State University. Prior to his political career, he spent two decades in the private sector working as an investment advisor and software consultant, with professional experience at companies such as Cerner Corporation and CoxHealth. Burlison's political career began in the Missouri House of Representatives, where he served from 2009 to 2017, followed by a tenure in the Missouri Senate from 2019 to 2023. During his time in the state legislature, he was a founding chair of the Conservative Caucus and focused on legislation related to Second Amendment rights, tax reform, and pro-business policies. In the U.S. House, he serves on the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, and the Committee on Education and the Workforce.

Eric Burlison maintains a consistently conservative voting record and platform. On the economy, he advocates for fiscal responsibility, reining in government spending to combat inflation, and making permanent the tax cuts established during the Trump administration. He supports shifting the federal tax burden from income to consumption and has expressed support for tariffs to protect American manufacturing. Regarding immigration, Burlison emphasizes border security and has introduced legislation to prevent non-citizens from voting in federal elections. In healthcare, he supports market-based reforms and has advocated for the 'Great American Healthcare Plan' to increase competition and lower costs. His foreign policy approach includes a focus on strategic competition with China, particularly in energy and technology, and he has voted in favor of withdrawing U.S. troops from Syria while maintaining strong support for Israel. Additionally, he is a proponent of expanding American energy production, specifically through the development of small modular nuclear reactors.
