Dan Goldman

Dan Goldman is a Democratic U.S. Representative for New York's 10th Congressional District, encompassing Lower Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn. He was first elected to Congress in 2022 and assumed office in January 2023. Prior to his career in elective office, Goldman served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York for ten years, where he specialized in the prosecution of organized crime, white-collar crime, and securities fraud. He attained national prominence in 2019 while serving as the lead majority counsel for the House Intelligence Committee during the first impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump, later serving as lead counsel to the House Impeachment Managers during the subsequent Senate trial. Goldman was raised in Washington, D.C., and is an heir to the Levi Strauss & Co. fortune. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from Yale University and a Juris Doctor from Stanford Law School. Throughout his time in the House of Representatives, he has been a member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the Committee on Homeland Security. In June 2026, he lost his bid for re-nomination in the Democratic primary for his congressional seat.

Goldman's stated policy positions align with the progressive and mainstream wings of the Democratic Party. On healthcare, he supports the expansion of coverage through the Medicare for All Act and has been a vocal advocate for the federal protection of reproductive rights, co-sponsoring the Women's Health Protection Act. His economic agenda focuses on addressing income inequality, specifically through his introduction of the ROBINHOOD Act, which proposes a federal tax on the ultra-wealthy; he also supports raising the federal minimum wage and strengthening collective bargaining rights for labor unions. Regarding environmental policy, Goldman is a co-sponsor of the Green New Deal and supports a transition to renewable energy and achieving net-zero emissions. On immigration, he advocates for comprehensive reform with a pathway to citizenship for Dreamers and has been a critic of ICE enforcement practices, calling for increased oversight and humanitarian standards. Additionally, he supports strict gun safety legislation, including universal background checks and a ban on assault weapons.
