Greg Landsman

Greg Landsman is the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 1st Congressional District, serving since January 2023. A member of the Democratic Party, Landsman was first elected to Congress in 2022, defeating a multi-term incumbent. His professional background is rooted in education and advocacy; he began his career as a public high school teacher before transitioning into policy roles. Landsman earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Political Science from Ohio University in 1999 and a Master of Arts in Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School in 2004. Prior to his election to Congress, Landsman served on the Cincinnati City Council from 2018 to 2022, where he focused on infrastructure, public safety, and early childhood education. He is widely recognized for leading the successful Cincinnati Preschool Promise initiative, which secured funding for two years of quality preschool for local children. He also served as the Director of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives under former Ohio Governor Ted Strickland. In the House of Representatives, he serves on the Committee on Small Business and the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and is a member of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus.

Landsman's legislative priorities emphasize economic relief for the middle class, healthcare accessibility, and government transparency. He supports the Affordable Care Act and has introduced legislation to cap insulin costs for children and lower prescription drug prices for seniors. On economic issues, he advocates for raising the minimum wage, protecting labor unions, and providing tax relief to working families. He is a proponent of reproductive rights, supporting the codification of Roe v. Wade and federal protections for IVF and contraception. Landsman has also made ethics reform a cornerstone of his platform, advocating for a ban on stock trading by members of Congress and the elimination of 'dark money' in politics. His environmental positions include supporting a transition to clean energy and regulating the environmental impact of AI data centers. In foreign policy, he has voiced support for security assistance to Israel and continued aid to Ukraine.
