Wesley Hunt

Wesley Parish Hunt is a Republican politician and U.S. Army veteran currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 38th congressional district. Born on November 13, 1981, in Houston, Texas, Hunt comes from a military family; his father was a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and both of his siblings are also West Point graduates. After graduating from St. John’s School in Houston, Hunt attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in leadership and management with a field of study in mechanical engineering in 2004. Following his graduation from West Point, Hunt served eight years in the U.S. Army as an aviation branch officer and an AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopter pilot. His military career included a combat deployment to Iraq, where he flew 55 combat missions, and two deployments to Saudi Arabia as a diplomatic liaison officer. After receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of captain in 2012, Hunt attended Cornell University, where he earned three master's degrees: a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Public Administration, and a Master of Industrial and Labor Relations. Hunt was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022 to represent the newly created 38th district of Texas and assumed office on January 3, 2023. In Congress, he serves on the House Committee on the Judiciary, the Committee on Natural Resources, and the Committee on Small Business. He is recognized for sponsoring the Royalty Resiliency Act, which was signed into law in 2024 to improve the management of federal oil and gas royalties. Additionally, in 2025, he was appointed to the United States Military Academy Board of Visitors.

Wesley Hunt's policy positions align with a conservative, 'America First' platform. On the economy, he advocates for significant cuts to federal spending to address the national debt, opposes tax increases, and supports deregulation to promote economic growth. He is a staunch supporter of the energy industry, particularly oil and gas production, arguing that fossil fuels are essential for energy independence and that 'anti-carbon' policies should be resisted.
