Jennifer Kiggans

Jennifer Kiggans is a Republican politician and healthcare professional currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 2nd Congressional District. First elected in 2022 after defeating incumbent Elaine Luria, she assumed office on January 3, 2023. Kiggans grew up in Florida and earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Boston University. She then served for ten years as a helicopter pilot in the United States Navy, completing two deployments to the Persian Gulf. After her military service, she utilized the GI Bill to pursue a career in nursing, earning a Bachelor of Science from Old Dominion University and a Master of Science in Nursing from Vanderbilt University. Before her election to Congress, Kiggans worked as an adult-geriatric nurse practitioner and served in the Virginia State Senate from 2020 to 2023. In Congress, Kiggans is a member of the House Armed Services Committee, the Committee on Veterans' Affairs, and the Committee on Natural Resources. Her legislative focus often centers on veteran services, military readiness, and healthcare affordability. She is affiliated with the Republican Governance Group and the Problem Solvers Caucus, positioning herself as a moderate within her party.
