Harriet Hageman

Harriet Hageman is the U.S. Representative for Wyoming's At-large Congressional District and a member of the Republican Party. Born on October 18, 1962, in Douglas, Wyoming, she was raised on a ranch near Fort Laramie. Hageman attended Casper College before earning a Bachelor of Science in business administration and a Juris Doctor from the University of Wyoming in 1986 and 1989, respectively. Her early career included a clerkship for federal appeals judge James Barrett, after which she spent over 30 years as a trial attorney specializing in water and natural resource litigation. She became nationally recognized for her legal work challenging federal regulatory overreach and defending private property rights. Hageman first entered the national political spotlight during the 2022 election cycle when she challenged incumbent Representative Liz Cheney for Wyoming's sole congressional seat. With the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, she won the Republican primary and was subsequently elected in the general election, assuming office on January 3, 2023. In Congress, she serves on the House Judiciary Committee and the House Natural Resources Committee, where she has chaired the Subcommittee on Indian and Insular Affairs. Her legislative work frequently focuses on constitutional law, administrative reform, and the interests of the agricultural and energy sectors.
