Michael Rulli

Michael Rulli is a Republican U.S. Representative representing Ohio's 6th Congressional District. First elected in a special election on June 11, 2024, to fill the vacancy left by Bill Johnson, he was subsequently re-elected to a full term in the 2024 general election. Rulli is a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley and a graduate of Poland Seminary High School. He earned his bachelor's degree in communications and speech from Emerson College in 1991. Before his tenure in Congress, Rulli served in the Ohio State Senate representing the 33rd district from 2019 to 2024 and was a member of the Leetonia School Board for eight years, where he also served as president. Outside of public office, Rulli has served as the director of operations for Rulli Bros. Markets, a family-owned grocery chain with a century-long history in the Mahoning Valley. His professional experience in the private sector has often informed his legislative focus on economic development and fiscal stability. In the U.S. House of Representatives, he serves on committees including Energy and Commerce and Education and the Workforce. His work in Congress has emphasized regional issues such as rail safety, energy production, and supporting local manufacturing industries.

Rulli identifies with 'America First' principles, which prioritize domestic interests, strict border security, and ending illegal immigration. He advocates for fiscal responsibility, supporting measures to lower taxes, reduce federal spending, and cut bureaucratic regulations to stimulate job growth and revitalize the manufacturing sector. In healthcare, Rulli emphasizes the importance of pricing transparency to empower consumers and drive down costs, alongside efforts to lower prescription drug prices. During his time in the Ohio Senate, he co-sponsored the 'Heartbeat Bill' and has consistently maintained a conservative voting record on social and fiscal issues. Additionally, he supports energy independence and has called for increased efficiency and accountability within federal agencies, including involvement in initiatives like the DOGE Caucus to eliminate wasteful programs.
