Dave Min

Dave Min is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing California's 47th Congressional District. He was first elected to Congress in November 2024 and assumed office in January 2025, succeeding Representative Katie Porter. Prior to his election to the House, Min served as a California State Senator representing the 37th District from 2020 to 2024. Born to Korean immigrants, he was raised in California and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School, followed by a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School. Min's professional career includes serving as an enforcement attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission, where he prosecuted financial fraud, and as a senior economic policy advisor to Senator Chuck Schumer. He also held the role of economic policy director at the Center for American Progress and was a law professor at the University of California, Irvine, specializing in banking, housing, and consumer protection. During his time in the California State Senate, Min chaired the Natural Resources and Water Committee and authored legislation focusing on gun safety, environmental conservation, and domestic violence protections. His legislative record includes the first-in-the-nation ban on gun and ammunition sales on state property and the codification of the state's 30x30 conservation goals to protect 30% of California's lands and coastal waters by 2030.

Dave Min advocates for a policy platform focused on economic equity, environmental sustainability, and public safety. He supports the protection and expansion of the Affordable Care Act and opposes cuts to Medicare and Medicaid. A proponent of stricter gun control, he supports universal background checks and bans on firearm sales on state-owned property.
