Gabe Evans

Gabe Evans is a Republican U.S. Representative for Colorado's 8th Congressional District, first elected in 2024 and currently serving in the 119th Congress. A Colorado native born in Aurora, he graduated cum laude from Patrick Henry College with a degree in government and strategic intelligence. Evans served 12 years in the U.S. Army and the Colorado Army National Guard, reaching the rank of captain. As a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter pilot, he completed a combat deployment during Operation Enduring Freedom and flew missions for wildfire suppression and search and rescue throughout Colorado. Following his military service, Evans spent over a decade with the Arvada Police Department, where he rose to the rank of lieutenant and served as a patrol officer, sergeant, and watch commander. He also worked as a firearms instructor and a writer on public safety and military issues. In 2022, Evans transitioned to public office when he was elected to the Colorado House of Representatives for District 48, where he focused on criminal justice reform and legislation supporting the National Guard. In the 2024 general election, Evans defeated the Democratic incumbent to represent Colorado's 8th District. Since taking office in 2025, he has served on the House Committee on Homeland Security and has introduced legislation aimed at increasing resources for local law enforcement and addressing transnational repression. He is the grandson of Mexican immigrants, a background he frequently references as a primary motivation for his public service and his perspective on the American Dream.

Evans advocates for fiscal policies aimed at lowering inflation through reduced government spending and tax cuts, including a proposal to make Social Security benefits tax-free. On energy, he supports increasing domestic oil and gas production while reducing federal regulations on natural gas exports. His immigration platform emphasizes border security, such as finishing the border wall and reinstating the 'Remain in Mexico' policy, but he also supports maintaining DACA protections and has co-sponsored the DIGNIDAD Act to provide a pathway to legal status for certain undocumented individuals. Evans describes himself as pro-life, supporting exceptions for rape, incest, and the life of the mother, while maintaining that abortion regulation should be decided at the state level. Additionally, he is a strong proponent of school choice and homeschooling, and he supports same-sex marriage rights.
