Brad Knott

Brad Knott is a Republican U.S. Representative serving North Carolina's 13th Congressional District. A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Knott earned a bachelor's degree in history from Baylor University in 2009 and a Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest University School of Law in 2012. During his time in law school, he served as a clerk for North Carolina Supreme Court Justice Paul Newby. Before his election to Congress, he worked as an aide to North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory and spent over seven years as a federal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina. As a prosecutor, he specialized in cases involving drug cartels, human trafficking, and organized crime. Knott was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2024, winning the general election with approximately 59% of the vote. He assumed office on January 3, 2025, succeeding Democratic Representative Wiley Nickel. In the 119th Congress, Knott was appointed to several committees, including the House Judiciary Committee, the Homeland Security Committee, and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. His entry into politics was motivated by his experience in law enforcement, where he advocated for stricter sentencing and border security measures to address community safety.

Representative Knott maintains a conservative policy platform centered on law enforcement, fiscal responsibility, and border security. He supports completing the wall at the U.S.-Mexico border and advocates for stricter penalties for illegal immigration, including mandatory minimum five-year prison sentences for undocumented immigrants who commit felonies followed by deportation. On economic issues, Knott emphasizes reducing federal spending to combat inflation and supports a balanced budget amendment to the U.S. Constitution. He has signed the 'No New Taxes' pledge and opposes income tax hikes. Knott is pro-life, supporting the Dobbs decision to return abortion regulation to the states and opposing federal efforts to legalize abortion. Additionally, he is a vocal supporter of the Second Amendment, school choice, and robust funding for local law enforcement agencies.
