Tim Moore

Timothy "Tim" Moore is a Republican politician representing North Carolina's 14th Congressional District. Born on October 2, 1970, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, he earned a B.A. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1992 and a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law in 1995. Following law school, he practiced law in Cleveland County and was appointed to the University of North Carolina Board of Governors in 1997. Moore was first elected to the North Carolina House of Representatives in 2002, where he represented Cleveland County and served as Speaker of the House from 2015 to 2025. As the longest-serving Speaker in North Carolina history, his tenure was characterized by the enactment of personal income tax cuts, the implementation of voter ID requirements, and the 2023 expansion of Medicaid. He was first elected to the United States House of Representatives in November 2024 and assumed office on January 3, 2025.

Moore promotes a "pro-growth" economic platform that emphasizes private-sector leadership, tax reductions, and fiscal responsibility to combat inflation. On immigration, he supports increased border security and the enforcement of existing laws, having successfully championed legislation to outlaw sanctuary cities in North Carolina. His healthcare positions include support for Medicaid expansion with an emphasis on work requirements for able-bodied adults. Additionally, Moore is a vocal advocate for voter identification laws and maintaining balanced budgets to ensure government efficiency.
