Maggie Goodlander

Margaret "Maggie" Goodlander is the U.S. Representative for New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District, first elected in November 2024 as a member of the Democratic Party. Born and raised in Nashua, New Hampshire, she earned her Bachelor of Arts from Yale College in 2009 and her Juris Doctor from Yale Law School in 2016. Goodlander's early career included serving as a foreign policy advisor in the U.S. Senate for Senators Joe Lieberman and John McCain and serving for over a decade as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve, reaching the rank of lieutenant. Goodlander has served in all three branches of the federal government. Following law school, she clerked for Chief Judge Merrick Garland of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer. She later served as counsel to the House Judiciary Committee during the first impeachment of Donald Trump. In the Biden administration, she was a Deputy Assistant Attorney General at the U.S. Department of Justice, where she worked on antitrust enforcement, and subsequently served as a senior advisor at the White House leading the Unity Agenda for the Nation.

Goodlander's platform focuses on reproductive rights, economic accountability, and healthcare accessibility. She is a staunch advocate for reproductive freedom, supporting the federal codification of abortion rights and expanded access to IVF and contraception. Her economic policy emphasizes combating corporate monopolies through antitrust enforcement to lower prices for housing, groceries, and prescription drugs, while also supporting collective bargaining rights and raising the minimum wage. In healthcare, she advocates for protecting and expanding the Affordable Care Act, Social Security, and Medicare. On environmental issues, she supports transitioning to clean energy and advancing environmental justice. Her immigration position includes a framework for border security coupled with a path to citizenship for those already in the country, alongside efforts to curb the flow of fentanyl. She also supports government reforms such as campaign finance reform and term limits for Supreme Court justices.
