George Latimer

George Latimer is a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives, representing New York's 16th Congressional District. Born in Mount Vernon, New York, he earned a Bachelor of Arts from Fordham University in 1974 and a Master of Public Administration from New York University's Wagner School in 1976. Before entering public service, Latimer spent over two decades as a marketing executive in the hospitality industry, working for major corporations such as ITT and Nestle on projects involving IBM and AT&T. His public service career began on the Rye City Council in 1987, followed by a 13-year tenure on the Westchester County Board of Legislators, where he became the first Democrat to serve as Chairman in 90 years. Latimer's extensive legislative experience includes serving in the New York State Assembly from 2005 to 2012 and the New York State Senate from 2013 to 2017. He was elected Westchester County Executive in 2017 and re-elected in 2021, a role in which he focused on infrastructure development, environmental initiatives, and fiscal management, including three consecutive property tax cuts. In June 2024, Latimer won a highly publicized Democratic primary for New York's 16th Congressional District, subsequently winning the general election in November. He was first sworn into Congress on January 3, 2025, succeeding Jamaal Bowman.
