David Taylor

David James Taylor is the U.S. Representative for Ohio's 2nd Congressional District, representing the Republican Party since being sworn into office on January 3, 2025. A lifelong resident of Ohio, Taylor graduated from Amelia High School and earned his Bachelor of Arts from Miami University in 1992, followed by a Juris Doctor from the University of Dayton School of Law in 1996. His professional career began in public service as an assistant prosecutor in the Clermont County Prosecutor’s Office, where he specialized in criminal cases involving narcotics and violent offenses. Beyond his legal background, Taylor is an established businessman who served for over 25 years as the president and owner of Sardinia Ready Mix, Inc., a family-owned concrete business in Brown County. He entered federal politics as a political outsider and was elected to succeed retiring Representative Brad Wenstrup in the 2024 general election. In Congress, Taylor serves on the House Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. He is also the Co-Chair of the bipartisan Congressional Rural Broadband Caucus, focusing on enhancing infrastructure and connectivity throughout rural Appalachia. His legislative priorities often emphasize his dual experience as a former prosecutor and a small business owner to address issues such as public safety, economic growth, and regulatory reform.

Taylor maintains a conservative platform focused on fiscal responsibility, border security, and the protection of constitutional rights. He is a proponent of balanced budgets and has supported legislation to withhold pay for members of Congress if a budget is not finalized. As a signatory of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, he consistently opposes income tax increases and advocates for pro-growth economic policies. On immigration, Taylor supports the completion of the southern border wall, increased resources for the U.S. Border Patrol, and stricter deportation measures to address human trafficking and the flow of fentanyl. He identifies as pro-life, stating that legal protections should be extended to the unborn, and is a staunch supporter of Second Amendment rights. Furthermore, Taylor advocates for American energy independence by expanding domestic fossil fuel production and nuclear energy capabilities. He also focuses on rural development, supporting efforts to improve utility services, cellular coverage, and broadband access for his constituents.
