Robert Bresnahan

Robert Bresnahan Jr. is a Republican U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania's 8th congressional district, having first been elected in November 2024. A native of the Wyoming Valley in Northeastern Pennsylvania, he grew up working in his family's electrical contracting business, Kuharchik Construction. He graduated from the University of Scranton in 2012 with a B.S. in Business Administration. Shortly after college, he took on leadership roles in the family firm, serving as CFO and then CEO, where he oversaw the company's growth to more than 150 employees and expanded its operations in infrastructure and power distribution. Since taking office in January 2025, Bresnahan has been appointed to the House Committees on Agriculture, Small Business, and Transportation and Infrastructure, where he serves as Vice Chair of the Subcommittee on Highways and Transit. Before his election, he was active in community service, including tenures as President of the Luzerne County SPCA and board member for several organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Pennsylvania and the Catholic Youth Center. He also founded a real estate development group, RPB Ventures, focused on revitalizing historic buildings in the region.

Robert Bresnahan’s legislative priorities focus on economic revitalization, border security, and fiscal restraint. He advocates for a balanced budget to address inflation and has introduced the "No Taxation Without Operation Act" to halt IRS collections during government shutdowns. His economic platform also emphasizes infrastructure investment and the creation of family-sustaining wages. On immigration, he supports rigorous border security measures, including completing the southern border wall and reinstating the "Remain in Mexico" policy. He frames border security as a critical component of national security and the fight against the fentanyl crisis. In terms of social policy, Bresnahan has committed to protecting Social Security and Medicare, arguing that the programs should be preserved for current and future generations by preventing the government from borrowing against them and ensuring benefits are reserved for citizens. On foreign policy, he maintains a pro-Israel stance, supporting the country's right to defend itself, while calling for a more accountable approach to foreign aid that prioritizes domestic needs. A member of the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, he has frequently stated his intention to work across party lines to find common-sense solutions to national issues.
