Jimmy Patronis

Jimmy Theo Patronis Jr. is an American politician and businessman currently serving as the U.S. Representative for Florida's 1st congressional district. A member of the Republican Party, he was first elected to Congress in a special election on April 1, 2025, to fill the seat vacated by Matt Gaetz. Born on April 13, 1972, in Panama City, Florida, Patronis earned an associate degree from Gulf Coast Community College and a bachelor's degree in political science from Florida State University. Outside of his political career, he is a partner in his family's long-standing restaurant business, Captain Anderson's. Prior to his election to the U.S. House, Patronis served as Florida's Chief Financial Officer (CFO) from 2017 to 2025, a statewide constitutional office where he managed the state's finances and served as the State Fire Marshal. His previous experience also includes eight years in the Florida House of Representatives and a term on the Florida Public Service Commission. His tenure in state government was marked by efforts in fiscal management and insurance regulation.

Patronis is a fiscal conservative who advocates for tax cuts, limited government spending, and the 'America First' agenda. He has been a vocal critic of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) investment standards, leading initiatives to divest state funds from financial institutions that prioritize those criteria. Patronis is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment and law enforcement, having championed state legislation to provide first responders with cancer benefits and mental health resources. He opposes federal efforts to create a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) and has focused on property insurance reform to combat fraud and stabilize premiums. Furthermore, he maintains a pro-Israel stance, evidenced by directing significant state treasury investments into Israel bonds during his time as CFO.
