Alan Armstrong

Alan Stuart Armstrong is a Republican U.S. Senator from Oklahoma, appointed to the seat in March 2026 by Governor Kevin Stitt to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Markwayne Mullin. A third-generation Oklahoman, Armstrong was raised in Bartlesville and earned a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1985. Before entering public service, he spent four years as an engineer and later four decades at the Williams Companies, a Tulsa-based energy infrastructure firm, where he rose through the ranks to serve as president and CEO from 2011 to 2025, and subsequently as Executive Chairman. During his tenure in the private sector, Armstrong was a prominent leader in the energy industry, serving as Chair of the National Petroleum Council and as a founding member of Natural Allies for a Clean Energy Future. He has also held leadership positions with the University of Oklahoma Foundation, BOK Financial Corp, and Junior Achievement USA. Appointed to serve the remainder of a term ending in January 2027, Armstrong is ineligible to run for a full term in the 2026 election under Oklahoma law, positioning him as a transitional figure focused on specific legislative priorities.
